As a Calorimetry Technical Specialist (m/w/d), you will directly report to our Global Safety Lab Manager and you will join our Division EHS in Vernier.

In this exciting role you will :

  • Carry out calorimetry measurements and evaluate the data collected from a variety of techniques (e.g. RC, DSC and C80) allowing correct risk assessments to be made.
  • Support the Global Safety Laboratory Manager for ensuring top class methodologies and techniques to evaluate chemical hazards of submitted cases.
  • Assist the EHS CoE Global Safety Specialist for the calorimetry results interpretation.
  • Plan and carry out reaction calorimetry measurements to determine thermal safety data for Givaudan’s chemical reactions and evaluate the results.
  • Evaluate and interpret the data collected from these tests, allowing correct risk assessments to be made.
  • Carry out DSC and C80 measurements and evaluate the results.
  • Determine the kinetics of the decomposition reactions of products using AKTS.
  • Manage the results and the databases containing them.
  • Write the experimental part of the scientific reports related to RC measurements.
  • Assure the continued operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist the Safety Lab by organizing administrative tasks (e.g. orders, shipments…) and by ensuring the maintenance, installation and reparation of equipments.
  • Follow any procedures or quality instructions relevant to the role.

Your success profile includes :

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in an organic chemistry laboratory
  • Experience with reaction calorimetry
  • Communicative English, local language essential
  • Chemistry and product knowledge
  • Technical background in the area of Chemical Process Safety, Chemical Engineering and organic chemistry
  • Experience carrying out organic syntheses on a laboratory scale mandatory
  • Knowledge of common laboratory operations, ideally including DSC, C80 and RC testings
  • Knowledge of common IT office tools, including database management
  • Understand internal/external factors affecting Givaudan and its customers and industry benchmarks for safety, quality, performance, and reliability on the CoE subject matter
