Delivery System Research Scientist

 

Our mission is to design and conduct research projects in order to develop improved and new Fragrance Encapsulation products and solutions, according to company's business objectives and corporate strategy. Develop in-depth subject matter excellence and utilize to implement scientific and technological advancements.

Report to the Head of Discover and Explore, you will be part of a dynamic and stimulating team in Argenteuil offices.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

Research

As a Research Scientist at Givaudan, your role will involve translating consumer benefits or customer requirements, which are typically received through new business opportunities, into a set of technical requirements. You will independently plan, organize, and execute technical projects, ensuring timely delivery of results.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Project Leadership:

You will lead projects, tracking and regularly updating them in the Project Management system. Additionally, you will write regular reports and initiate stage gate reviews to ensure project progress and alignment with objectives.

 

Creative Problem Solving:

Applying creative and innovative thinking skills, you will solve problems and work towards achieving project deliverables.

 

Exploratory Research:

You will perform exploratory research to identify new projects and manage day-to-day equipment operations.

 

Research Method Development:

You will effectively contribute to the development of research methods and new science/technical capabilities, staying updated with scientific advancements in your field and identifying their impact on current projects.

 

Collaboration and Supplier Interaction:

You will identify potential outside collaborations and work with suppliers to enhance project outcomes.

 

Regulatory compliance:

You will work closely with our regulatory affairs specialists in order to provide compliant solutions to our clients.

 

Intellectual Property Protection:

Working closely with the Patents team, you will ensure appropriate protection of all Intellectual Property (IP) and actively seek opportunities to develop IP and protect inventions.

 

Client Interaction:

In some cases, you may be required to present and provide updates on your work to Givaudan's clients.

 

Scientific Leadership

  • Serve as a scientific and technical expert in own area
  • Participate in building a group of passionate scientists, actively sharing knowledge and learning in specialist field to ensure the optimal performance of the department

 

Profile

  • PhD
  • 3-5 years experience in some of the following topics:
    • Design, synthesis & characterization of (bio)polymers
    • Functionalization of bio-macromolecules and their subsequent modification
    • Microencapsulation – Delivery Systems
    • Emulsions
    • Sustainable materials
    • Analytical chemistry (examples: viscosity, particle size, zeta potential, chromatographic methods, NMR, IR, UV, SEM, TGA, DSC ….)
  • Experience in R&D project management
  • Strong drive for business support
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Able to deliver results in fast-paced customer focused environment
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to work in the lab
  • Be able to connect and build relationships with a large variety of people (e.g. Perfumers, commercial sales people and for instance production management)
