Senior Scientist/Toxicologist - Your future position?

As a Senior Scientist/Toxicologist, you will play an important role in the Regulatory Affairs and Product Safety (RAPS) team with a focus on EAME region. You will support Europe, South Africa, and Middle East regions, providing e-scientific expertise to customers and the regulatory function to ensure our products follow the regulatory requirements and our safety guidelines. You will also be responsible for generating and evaluating robust scientific data to ensure our new products are timely and efficiently registered with the relevant authorities.

In this exciting role, reporting to the Global Head of Product Safety, you will:
•    Advise our management on emerging issues related to regulatory policy and issues affecting potential regulatory compliance or product safety (Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, REACH)
•    Lead interactions linked to product safety and regulatory affairs between Global RAPS and other internal functions
•    Develop regulatory policies that ensure consistent and compliant business practices
•    Provide scientific and regulatory support to Global RAPS
•    Provide leadership for our regulatory and scientific advocacy programs to support initiatives
•    Represent Givaudan on Industry safety committees
•    Develop processes for safety review of new fragrance substances developed by research and development before and during sensory evaluation
•    Identify and incorporate new toxicology technologies into the safety review process
•    Interpret scientific and technical data affecting our Global Regulatory Toxicology group
•    Organize and monitor safety studies of fragrance or cosmetic ingredients with worldwide CROs 
•    Perform safety assessment of fragrance ingredients
•    Manage efforts in obtaining relevant toxicology or regulatory data needed to support the registrations application (REACH, TSCA) and being the liaison between assigned R&D project teams and Product Safety
•    Ensure all of our products comply with customer safety guidelines, government regulations and trade association safety requirements
•    Provide oversight and approval for use of new materials in fragrance development by Science & Technology (S&T) 
•    Identify and assess the impact of scientific information to support global R&D initiatives

Your professional profile includes:
•    Advanced University / MS Degree / Ph. D in scientific field (toxicology, biochemistry, chemistry or related areas)
•    7+ years of experience in product safety, regulatory affairs or relevant scientific area in fragrance or in chemical industry
•    Proven track record of advanced technical contributions in the industry
•    Advanced knowledge of a specific regulatory or toxicology discipline and ability to manage that discipline within a broader regulatory environment
•    Advanced knowledge of programmed systems and database management
•    Advanced knowledge of fragrance regulations, chemistry, biology or toxicology
•    Expert knowledge of safety assessment and ingredient registration processes, including EU legislation, REACH, CLP and cosmetic regulation
•    Proficiency in English
