Junior Laboratory Technician Internship

Measurement Science Research Technician Intern


The Measurement and Sensory Science Groups are multi-disciplinary teams within the Fragrance S&T function, providing expertise and project support to research platforms. An opportunity has arisen for a laboratory based internship role to support an established research project investigating fragrance ingredient behaviour within a specific consumer application.


The successful candidate will undertake routine screening to generate high quality experimental laboratory data. Day to day activities will involve:


  • Sample preparation - both chemical dilutions and consumer product formats
  • Organising and running sensory panel assessments
  • Recording and filing of generated experimental data using electronic reporting formats
  • Maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment needed to carry out daily tasks
  • Working independently and within team environment, as required
  • Working in a safe, consistent and documented manner

Essential Functional / Technical Skills


  • Able to follow instructions with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Practical laboratory skills, particularly sample preparation
  • Effective team player
  • High attention to detail
  • Possesses the ability to work in an organised, logical and safe manner
  • Demonstrates capability to use standard Microsoft packages particularly Excel

  • A-levels in scientific subjects and / or experience as junior laboratory technician
