Measurement Scientist

About the Role

 

Measurement Science is a diverse team within the Fragrance S&T function providing expertise and tools to research platforms including Ingredients, Delivery Systems, Health and Well-Being and Global Technology.

 

Primary activities include application of advanced chemical measurements and controlled environments to understand ingredient, technology and formulation behaviour. An opportunity has arisen for a Measurement scientist to join the team and support laboratory activities.

 

You will be based on our Ashford site and will report to the Head of Measurement Science. The planned start date for the position is from January 2021.

You will undertake both routine screening and specialist method development for research applications to help develop improved and new products and solutions across the Science and Technology group. 

 

You Will:

 

  • Contribute to research projects and business requests
  • Generation and interpretation of high-quality experimental data
  • Wet chemistry and sample preparation
  • Apply specialist measurement techniques (unique to Givaudan)
  • Rigorous recording and filing of generated experimental data using electronic reporting formats
  • Present results and issuing high-quality reports
  • Work independently and within a team environment, as required

 

You Have:

 

  • A-levels or equivalent in scientific subjects (essential), University degree (desirable), or equivalent experience
  • Practical laboratory skills
  • Experience with the application of analytical chemistry techniques
  • Experience with statistical analyses and treatment of chemical data
  • Experience working in an automated laboratory reporting environment
  • Experience with generating and recording large datasets
  • A problem-solving approach
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
