Sensory Scientist - Your future position?

The Sensory Science team is a multi-disciplinary team within the Fragrance S&T function, providing expertise and project support to business and research platforms. An opportunity has arisen for a sensory scientist to join our team with a focus on management of the non-trained assessor panel and method and research project management for the Personal Care category. 


As a Sensory Scientist you will be responsible for managing the testing with the non-trained assessor panel and working on innovative projects for the Personal Care category. 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Management of the non-trained assessor panel ensuring GDPR guidelines are followed.
  • Design, execute and analysis of sensory tests using this panel.
  • Develop and evolve the methodology toolbox for the Personal Care categories, actively seeking out and assessing methodologies which bring innovation to the sensory team.
  • Apply expert knowledge in the area of sensory science to implement new methodologies and ways of working.
  • Effectively partner with the business and research teams ensuring work is in line with the business and research strategy.
  • Collaboration with the Global Sensory Science team to ensure alignment of best working practices. 
  • Management of non-trained assessor panel leaders.
  • Ensure a safe laboratory and office working environment.

Your professional profile includes:

  • A relevant degree in science, preferably with sensory science modules
  • Knowledge and experience in the Fragrance/Flavour or FMCG industry.
  • Sensory experience with proven practical knowledge of sensory evaluation methods and its role in supporting product development and optimization.
  • Experience in developing new sensory protocols.
  • Knowledge and experience with sensory software, EyeQuestion preferable, and statistical analysis. 
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience of management of external assessors.
  • People and project management experience desirable.
