Color Scientist

As part of our ambitious growth strategy, we are looking to strengthen our Science & Technology Explore Food Ingredients team with a Color Scientist.

With a background and expertise in chemistry, you will be a key member of the color team. Your main responsibility will be to define and lead new creative research programs for the natural color category. 


Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design and manage research projects according to company's our goals and corporate strategy leading to inspiring innovation within the color category
  • Use specialization to identify technologies, methodologies, possible scientific partners, universities, startups, and industry that will help solve our customer needs by innovation. 
  • Secure innovation by IP
  • Bring ideas to life, taking new ideas to industrial scale and into customer products.
  • Provide technical expertise within the color category, supporting our business globally and our customers 
  • Maintain awareness of new methodologies and technologies by literature, patent reviews, conferences, trade-shows. In particular, further develop the understanding of ingredient interactions in complex food and beverage products and develop coloring additives and ingredients with performance.
  • Independently organize complex technical projects to characterize and master pigments' chemical pathways and identify novel ways to improve their performance. 
  • Lead on projects, cross-regionally, globally within the global Science & Technology group


Professional Skills

  • Customer focus, creative and able to inspire creativity
  • Willingness to be hands-on and individual
  • Laboratory experimental skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. French is a plus.


Experience Required

  • Minimum of five years of experience in plant or food science research or industry
  • Experience with natural pigments (characterization, extraction and formulations)
  • A general understanding of food manufacturing processes is a plus.


Educational Requirements

Master with experience or Ph.D.’s degree in chemistry/plant chemistry or related field.
