Color Technical Manager EU/SAMEA

You will provide management of short-term improvement and application projects to sustain and grow our business.  

You will lead the assigned team of scientists carrying out project work and developing commercially successful technologies.  

You will develop an internal and external network among customers, suppliers, universities, and other Givaudan groups to strengthen our position in providing sustainable solutions to our customers. 

You will report to the Senior New Product Development Manager.

 

Missions:  

 

Environmental Health & Safety: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab environment following EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines.   

 

Management:

  • Manage a team of color technical experts (NPD & Application) 

  • Develop application work within the EU SCBU team. 

  • Build and manage budget (OPEX, CAPEX) for the Avignon team/lab.

  • Foster close collaboration with the wider SCBU EU / SAMEA/ APAC SCBU team

  • Develop and implement an application training plan for the team for 2024.

  • Ensure resources required by a team within Givaudan but outside of SCBU are obtained by developing a broad set of relationships within the required departments inside of Givaudan

  • Take responsibility for building a diverse and inclusive environment and use different instyles, thinking, and approaches.

 

  Project execution:

  • Guide excellence of project execution & communication 

  • Participate to the CAT colour calls and manage project briefs under both Givaudan and DDW systems.

  • Lead and follow execution of the NPD and application customer projects for the Avignon-based team.

  • Project management of complex briefs and coordinates with external (to Sense Color Team) team members.

  • Support customer visits, calls, and presentations as a color technical expert.

  • Provide support to the sales and wider Givaudan team, for integrated Solutions and multi-ingredient briefs, on technical questions and selection.

  • Complete experimental lab work on a specific topic/technology new to the team or to absorb workload (5-10% maximum).

 

Strategy: 

Be the application lead and referral to build and follow the execution of the EU Color regional roadmap working with the RPM and EU Technical manager.

Together with the EU Technical manager and RPM, develop a plan for the Avignon S&I team based on expected project load and type.  

 

Innovation:

Be the application lead and referral for the S&T Color team to follow up on the innovation projects with the RPM and EU technical Manager.  

 

Academic background:

  • Degree or higher in food science or an adjacent science field

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a customer-facing scientific role in the natural ingredient, food or beverage industry
