Senior Color Scientist

As part of our ambitious growth strategy, we are looking to strengthen our Science & Technology Explore Food Ingredients team with a Senior Color Scientist.

With a background and expertise in natural colors and coloring foods you will be an important member of the color team. Your main responsibility will be to define and lead research programs to develop improved and new products and solutions for the natural color category. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and manage research projects according to the company's goals and corporate strategy leading to innovation within the color category. Lead on projects, cross-regionally and globally
  • Ensure understanding of programs with strategy and functional area targets for the category. Responsibility for managing a pipeline of projects, prioritization, resource allocation, -in-full delivery and efficient reporting
  • Work independently to research and identify areas of opportunity for the category especially coloring Foods
  • Review competitors, IP and regulatory landscape as part of the exercise to identify gaps, needs and constraints.
  • Monitor technological advances in all relevant disciplines, identify external partners and works with functional heads to incorporate new external technologies in the innovation portfolio
  • Deliver expertise and excellent knowledge of color ingredients and additives, extraction, formulations and processing techniques to the business.
  • Maintain awareness of new methodologies and technologies to strengthen the performance and differentiate with coloring extracts (literature, patent reviews, conferences, trade-shows).
  • Demonstrate ability to bring science to factory and market, improving with raw materials, processes and delivery systems, successfully aligning teams to seamless execution.
  • Develop, grow and maintain a working relationships with global Science & Technology group and external partners.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a science and technology management role in the natural color industry
  • Technical background of extraction processes for natural plant extracts including colors
  • General knowledge of food manufacturing processes.

 

Educational Requirements

Master degree with experience or PhD degree in food science and related field.
