As a Technologist Assistant (m/f/d), based in Avignon, you will be part of our Naturals R&D and Industrialization team. Under supervision, you will perform technical research operations in order to support development of improved and new products and solutions within own area, according to company's business objectives and corporate strategy.

As part of the Natural Ingredients Innovation team, you will play a hands-on role in developing innovative ingredients and technologies. Your work will span raw material selection, extraction trials, carrying out experimental plans, sampling activities, analytical characterization, and translating lab results to industrial processes.

 

Reporting to our Natural Products & Process Development Scientist, you will:

  • Assess the feasibility of product development—including feasibility studies, development phases, and industrial scale-up by performing laboratory tests under the guidance of the Natural Products & Process Development Scientist.

  • Occasionally provide support to other team members.

  • Perform raw material screening, laboratory extraction and refining trials, execute experimental plans, carry out primary analyses for characterization (e.g., physicochemical properties, GC profile, etc.), and assist in interpreting results.

  • Support development activities by collecting data, providing technical assistance, conducting literature reviews.

  • Prepare activity reports, meeting minutes and presentation of results. Enter data into internal systems when required.

  • Discuss conclusions and further actions with your supervisor.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, manage supplies and inventory.

  • Report any process or equipment deviations and deficiencies; identify and propose corrective actions.

  • Apply company and Group policies related to Ethics, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), Quality, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

  • Occasional travel may be required in the Grasse area or to other Givaudan sites.

 

You?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or equivalent

  • 1-3 years of experience with naturals extractions

  • Experience the F&F, cosmetics or pharmaceutical industries, and/or a strong passion for natural ingredients

  • Communicate clearly, precisely, and concisely in written and verbal form

  • Good knowledge of lab equipment and its safe use to perform research experiments

  • Knowledge of materials and supplies needed to conduct research experiments

  • Good understanding of research documentation protocols

  • Knowledge of EHS guidelines as they pertain to lab maintenance and operation

  • Fluent in French language and knowledge of English

  • Comfortable using digital systems and common PC applications (Microsoft 365)
