Senior Agronomist - Your future position?
As the Senior Agronomist, you will support Givaudan’s objectives to drive the implementation of projects across our strategic natural ingredient local value chains.
Purpose
Responsible for building up, implementing, monitoring, improving and reporting on different natural local value chain projects.
Assist in raising high quality, profitable crops through experimental protocol design data and sample collection, timely reporting. Regular field visits, advising and training of farmers group and crop follow-up.
Investigate new technical solutions in order to secure the supply of natural products according to Givaudan’s needs and within the corporate strategies, promote best agricultural and regenerative practices as well as compliance with applicable local policies and regulations.
Location
The position is preferably based in Bangalore, India, at the Givaudan site.
Regular domestic (up to 40% of the time) and occasionally international travels are required.
The position is available immediately and is a permanent contract, the position reports to the Head of Agronomy, based in France.
Embody technical leadership at country and regional level
- Review Scientific and Technical Literature - connect and collaborate with external and internal partners involved in the agronomy projects.
- Develop crop expertise on targeted botanicals – review and promote Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and promote the shift to Regenerative Agriculture model.
- Collaborate with field technicians and tour in farmers’ fields to provide technical field insight and propose pragmatic solution.
- Lead field experiments with stakeholders, design experimental protocol, set up and monitor field trials, analyze results, report and communicate on achievements.
- Provide appropriate training, seminar or demonstration to the farmers in the regions where we are buying.
Coordinate project, drive roadmap and consolidate reporting
- Support the business and supply performance objectives (ie. traceability, quality) in elaborating project proposal: deliverables, action plan, timeline, budget.
- Connect internally with various stakeholders (Agronomy team, Procurement, R&D, Operation, Business, Communication…) and externally with entities that can provide input to the projects (University, Research Center, Agri service provider).
- Build relationship with the local official bodies involved in the Agronomy projects.

Your professional profile includes:
Experience
- Agronomy engineer or Master’s degree in related fields (crop or soil science, breeding, agroecology).
- Postgraduate studies or certifications in the field of sustainability are a plus.
- Strong expertise and 5 to 10 y. of experience in coordination of agricultural projects as well as agricultural value chain project management, with a proven track record working in the spices and/or aromatic and/or medicinal botanical value chains.
- Demonstrated experience in working with agricultural value chain players from farmers to manufacturers and managing complex multi-stakeholder projects.
- Good understanding of sustainable and regenerative farming frameworks and certifications (UEBT, SAI, ROC…) as well as corporate reporting requirements (scope 3, biodiversity, etc.) are a plus.
Technical and other skills
- Good technical agricultural and farming business background, specific knowledge on smallholder farming specialty crops in Indian context is advantageous.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, ability to track the impact of projects through appropriate KPIs ; use data-driven outcomes to continuously improve programme outcomes and support decision making.
- Ability to engage across a wide spectrum of stakeholders within Givaudan (procurement, sustainability, business and customers) and with external organizations (multi-stakeholder collaborative platforms), as well as “boots on the ground” engagement when collaborating with suppliers and farmers.
- Ability to develop actionable recommendations and implementation plans in clear, compelling, effective way.
- Experience in an international work environment ; experience influencing, energizing, advocating and working with diverse, multi-stakeholder teams from multiple geographies and cultures.
- Proactive, organized, determined, tenacious and enthusiast personality.
- Fluency in English, Hindi and Kannada ; additional fluency in other local languages is a strong plus.
