Culinary Technician

The Culinary Technician will assist in the preparation and assembly of concepts and flavoured food products for internal and customer evaluations.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Communicates clearly in written and verbal form
Demonstrates proficiency in using common PC applications
Basic knowledge of common cooking equipment and materials used to perform duties
Basic knowledge of Givaudan safety, hygiene, and environmental guidelines/requirements
  Basic working knowledge of common ingredients
Practical knowledge of  cooking techniques pertaining to regional trends
Demonstrates tasting skills and is able to effectively describe the flavor profile of a product
Basic knowledge of various regional cuisines in regards to ingredients and traditional aspects of the cooking style, some knowledge of clean label and healthy cooking.
Basic math skills utilizing the metric system when converting recipes into formulas.
 
Core Responsibilities
Record lab data using a lab notebook and Givaudan software
Execute formulation instructions with speed and accuracy while preparing culinary products
Ability to communicate with ingredient suppliers for sample requests.
Support culinary and applications team in executing daily lab tasks
Stock and control raw materials, flavour samples, lab supplies, and grocery items
Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment is maintained in accordance with EH&S policies
Ability to present onself as a Culinary Professional in a corporate environment; working with Sales, Marketing, and Technical R&D departments.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS

Culinary Degree from an accredited University or an equivalent apprenticeship;
 0-1 years of work experience in the flavour, retail, or food service industries
