Environmental Sustainability Specialist - Your future position?

As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist , you will sit in the Global Sustainability Department of Givaudan, in the Environmental Sustainability (ES) team, under the guidance of the Global Environmental Sustainability Sr. Mgr, Supply Chain.

The ES programs are focusing on Climate Action, Water Stewardship and Waste Management and Circularity in our Operations as well as in our value chain.

The ES Specialist supports the implementation of the ES strategy and program specifically in the supply chain (Scope 3). Work is to be done in collaboration with many stakeholders including broader ES team members, Procurement, Agronomy, Operations, IT and Controlling colleagues as well as external partners such as vendors, consultants and auditors.

You will report directly to the Global Environmental Sustainability Manager - Supply Chain and will be based in Budapest, Hungary (hybrid role).

 

In this exciting role, you will:

 

Emission Factor Database

 

  • Manage the Emission Factor (EF) Database (drumbeat on monthly updates, ad-hoc projects, tasks prioritization and different stakeholders' coordination)

  • Develop EF models for Raw Material (RM) and Ingredients (ING) in alignment with internal priorities, collaborating with internal teams and external partners/literature research.

  • Drive continuous improvement on the data reporting, data collection and data consolidation processes, in alignment with GHG Protocol and PACT/TfS standards, based on collection and analysis of factual data, external research, benchmarking, and best practices research.

  • Drive continuous improvement of the EF database management process through digitalization journey

  • Maintain up-to-date the description and SOP of the RM/ING EF database management process

  • Build and deliver core capabilities across the organization (trainings, documented materials and supports)

 

Scope 3.1 Raw Materials Support

  • Manage the Scope 3.1 RM category reporting and work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure timelines, data integrity, consistency and coordinated reporting

  • Carry out required tasks to support the digitization of Scope 3.1 RM–related categories in line with established priorities and timelines.

  • Provide methodological guidance and calculate and capture Scope 3 emission reductions in compliance with the GHG Protocol, including both FLAG and non-FLAG initiatives.

  • Contribute to the IAR, CSRD and CDP on Scope 3.1 RM related data and be the contact person for 3rd party auditors.

 

Product Carbon Footprint Support

  • Support the PCF campaign calculation process with data preparation, reviews and liaising with PCF experts for each family

  • Lead the reference value improvement and calculation each year

  • Support on PCF analyses

  • Contribute to ad-hoc customer requests

 

Your professional profile includes:

 

  • University degree in in Environmental sciences, Chemical or Environmental engineering or equivalent sustainability background

  • 3 years of experience in Sustainability, EHS or Engineering

  • Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and LCA software tools (e.g., SimaPro) to model and analyze product environmental impacts; experience with PACT and TfS guidelines is beneficial

  • Knowledge of corporate environmental sustainability (Science-Based targets, CDP, GHG Protocol standards)

  • Experience in the FMCG sector; in chemicals or food processing is a plus

  • Fluent in English, other major EU language is beneficial

  • Computer literacy (MS Office; BI a plus)

  • Research skills, and strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to interact at multiple levels

  • Autonomous

  • Organization, coordination, and facilitation skills

  • Strong customer and service focus, solution oriented

  • Ability to travel (10%)
