Material Handler 3rd Shift

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS   Must be able to read and write English, have a working knowledge of basic arithmetic. Must be familiar with American and metric weighing systems. Must have knowledge of automated or computer-based material tracking systems. 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS      Must be able to operate a variety of specialized equipment, including forklifts, electric jacks, and drum runners. Must be able to operate measuring devices, such as scales, scanner guns, etc. and be able to perform routine maintenance on the same.  Must be experienced in entering/retrieving data from computer-based systems including but not limited to SAP.

 

GENERAL DUTIES

Works under the general supervision of supervisor or Group Leader.  Using forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and drum runners, moves, or stages material for purposes of shipping, receiving, warehousing, marrying or compounding. 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES     

  1. May replenish materials in robots or other containers/bins.  
  2. May collect, transfer, and/or sample material from tanks to drums or other containers.
  3. May collect, transfer, and/or sample required materials, transferring them to a single mixing vessel.   
  4. May weigh, open, close, seal, or label containers. 
  5. Responsible for inventory accuracy checks and cycle counts, as well as rotating stock to ensure FIFO policy is maintained.
  6. May be required to inspect paperwork for receiving materials and check the physical condition of containers.
  7. Performs daily equipment inspections.
  8. Receives training, at a minimum annually, in the proper handling of hazardous wastes, hazardous materials, and spill control in compliance with applicable regulations.  Performs all job activities dealing with hazardous wastes in accordance with the training received.

 

Physical Demands/Dexterity:  Ability to move heavy objects, including but not limited to 55-gallon drums weighing as much as 500 lbs. utilizing various material handling equipment.
