As our next Capex Senior Project Manager, reporting to our BP Engineering Americas, you will lead complex, large individual projects or guide a portfolio of projects as assigned by the Regional BP, often requiring considerable resources and high levels of functional integration. You will facilitate site master plan (SMP) studies and will guide and apply Project Gate Process (PGP) methodology in the region. You will apply the CapEx-related tools and systems (PPM, SAP/PS) in the region and will report to the Steering Committee for the duration of the assigned projects and studies.

 

This position is located in Carol Stream, IL.

 

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for:

People management:

  • Assemble and manage the project team (internal, external resources)
  • Animate and coordinate the performance of the project team members
  • Monitor project team performance and complete performance reviews (also for future use)
  • Coach, mentor and motivate project team and sites project managers/engineers
  • Train others CAPEX project managers/engineers on CapEx/PM processes (PGP, SMP) and systems/tools (PPM/SAP)

 

Function management:

  • Guide daily work of assigned strategic project (or phase) and manage project resources to lead a successful project delivery
  • Prepare Project/Portfolio Plan and financial forecasts/estimates for all phases
  • Deliver appropriate executive level communication to SteCo and stakeholders with regular status reporting, KPIs, project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues
  • Manage Project and lead project portfolio according to the CapEx/PM processes
  • Ensure adherence to Global, regional and local standards (EHS, Quality, IM&S, IM&T, ManEx/GPS, Innovation, Sustainability)
  • Lead selection of engineering suppliers and vendors together with IM&S, assisting negotiation and dispute management
  • Facilitate and resolve conflicts among project team members and other stakeholders
  • Provide consultation and participate Post Implementation Reviews
  • Participate to the development of CapEx/PM best practices & standards when requested

 

Decision-making authority:

  • Initial signature on Contracts with external engineering suppliers
  • Authorization of scope changes to Steering Committee

 

Technical skills :

  • Knowledge of EHS rules and guidelines
  • Design and construction of food/chemical plants
  • Solid knowledge of CapEx and related financial aspects
  • Software skills: user of PPM tools (preferably CA Clarity).

 

Required Qualifications:

  • BSc/MSc in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience leading large green/brown field projects.
  • Experience in mentoring
  • Experience in complex/matrix organizations
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and diverse specialists
  • Experience in the FMCG industry
  • Experience in contracts management and supplier selection processes
  • Fluent in English

 

Additional Experience

  • Project Management certification (PMI, PRINCE2)
  • Experience leading large green/brown field projects in food/chemical industries.
