You will be an important technical partner in the Sense Color Business Unit developing and delivering natural and caramel color solutions for food and beverage applications. Using your expertise in food science, sensory evaluation, and analytical techniques, you will apply and create innovative, stable, and commercially viable colors that meet customer needs. You will collaborate with customers, Sales, Marketing, and our technical teams to lead projects from concept through commercialization, strengthening Givaudan’s reputation as a color expert. You will offer the opportunity to influence new product development, strengthen customer relationships, and expand your technical expertise.

 

Your Title: Application Scientist 

Your Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

You Will Report To: Senior Manager  

 

Responsibilities:

Color & Food Application Development

  • Develop, apply, and evaluate natural and caramel color solutions across food and beverage systems, including experimental design, sensory testing, and performance evaluation
  • Be the subject matter expert in one or more strategic application sectors, applying color science and formulation expertise

Customer Partnership & Commercial Support

  • Partner directly with customers to troubleshoot color challenges, manage timelines, and address cost considerations
  • Collaborate with Sales to deliver technical support, strengthen key account relationships, and enhance the customer experience
  • Present technical and application insights to customers to strengthen Givaudan Sense Color Business Unit’s position as a color technology leader

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Support new color development from benchtop through pilot scale and commercialization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Finance, Marketing, and Regulatory to provide scalable and compliant color solutions
  • Develop application data, tools, and technical seminars to support innovation, marketing and sales programs

Quality, Compliance & Technical Expertise

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), laboratory safety, equipment calibration, and organized lab and pilot plant environments
  • Expand color and application expertise through internal collaboration.

 

Your Professional Profile Includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field
  • Food and beverage application experience required
  • 3+ years of experience with laboratory safety, GLP, and quality standards
  • Collaborative working style across cross-functional teams
  • Data documentation and project management skills
  •  Interpret technical results and translate them into business recommendations
  • Occasional global travel required; physically able to conduct pilot plant trials, including lifting as needed

 Compensation and Benefits

The established salary range for this position is $70,000-$100,000. Actual compensation will depend on individual qualifications. Medical, dental, and vision coverage and a high-matching 401(k) retirement plan.
