Senior Process Engineer - Flavors Manufacturing

Your future position?

If there are three types of Process Engineers - Industrialization, Operation, and Quality - we are focused on the Operations component for this role. We have state-of-the-art industrialization, but to make impactful changes to quality, we need the Operations understanding and someone that can encourage problem-solving discussions.

 

Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, and in collaboration with Production Managers, you will support the flavors manufacturing operations and focus on delivering operational objectives.

 

Our ideal candidate is a Mechanical Engineer with an understanding of chemical compounding and heat transfer, or a Chemical Engineer with a good understanding of industrialization, scale-up, and daily problem solving using equipment parameters.

 

  • Production Management Support: Control manufacturing of flavor products, material flow, and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules of assigned production lines ensuring compliance of standards. Use your understanding of manufacturing technologies and product characteristics (such as liquids, spray drying, powder blending, process Flavors). Troubleshoot non-conformances. Lead local operational technology improvement and optimization projects using statistical analysis to process data and analyze trends. Manage Quality Control improvement projects (flows, methods, calibration) 

 

  • Production Operation: Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data and perform calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools and manpower requirements. Solve problems using a combination of standard or modified procedures. Operate all relevant machinery, tools, and equipment and undertake standard and complex production tasks safely. Perform basic maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot problems, or arrange for equipment to be repaired or serviced by appropriate technicians. Make independent decisions in planning, organizing and completing technical assignments. Not supervised in detail except on more difficult assignments.

 

  • Technical Problem Solving: Support site improvement projects such as product transfers, quality improvement projects, yield improvement projects, cost reduction, and capacity improvement projects. Provide operations solutions for formula and process issues such as poor yield, chronic quality issues, excessive processing time, insufficient process controls, high product discard levels, formula or process related safety issues. Provide solutions for the rework of out of specification product that requires technical intervention.

Your professional profile includes:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree with Understanding of Chemical compounding or Chemical Engineering Degree with an understanding of industrialization.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with quality and consumer goods industrialization processes
  • Project management skills and use of the project management techniques. 
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma
  • Proficient in SAP
