Flavourist (Snacks) - Your future position?

In your role, you will be the technical point of contact for our main Snacks customer in Germany. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be part of our Flavour Creation and Application Team, based in Germany, Dortmund.

In this exciting job you will:

  • Release your creativity and prepare flavour samples as requested for customer briefs, applications needs, technology performance assessment, QC standards, physical testing, etc. Formulate new flavour creations or modify existing flavours to meet customer requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development for selected flavour types. Coordinate the evaluation of materials developed internally or from external sources and assess the potential for flavour creation.
  • Craft relationships with the biggest customers and maintain effective relationships with a broad number of complex partners to gain their trust and respect. Execute daily brief-related tasks and fully manage assigned projects and provide flavours that meet all defined customer needs and manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, production requirements, regulatory compliance, etc. as well as leading customer visits for flavour creation and product presentations at the customer when required.
  • Serve as a technical expert and leader to resolve flavour production issues, customer complaints and complete ownership of created flavours. Coach, train, motivate and mentor flavour assistants.

Your professional profile includes:

  • 2-6 years of experience as a Flavourist after completion of Givaudan Flavourist Training programme or accepted industry equivalent
  • Polytechnic or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology and any experience in a food applications lab, production or related area
  • Flavour Creation experience and interest in the Snacks or Savoury segment 
  • Demonstrate expert-level tasting skills with an intermediate level ability to understand how to adjust a flavour formulation in the direction needed for flavour modifications
  • Ability to interface with customers and effectively discuss flavour creation needs and provide direction to help solve flavour performance issues in their applications
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required, any level of German knowledge is a plus
