Senior Flavourist (Sweet Goods) - Your future position?

You will be part of a team of very experienced Flavourists and in a position to develop your expertise together with your colleagues inside and outside your team.

In this role, you will manage flavour development projects, in order to ensure an effective and successful creation process in cooperation with customers, according to business objectives and EH&S policies. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be part of our Flavour Creation and Application Team, based in Dortmund, Germany.

In this exciting job you will:


  • Release your creativity and prepare flavour samples as requested for customer briefs, applications needs, technology performance assessment, QC standards, physical testing. Create new flavours or modify existing flavours to meet customer requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development at an expert level for selected flavour types. Coordinate the evaluation of materials developed internally or from external sources and assess the potential for flavour creation.
  • Craft relationships with the biggest customers and maintain relationships with a broad number of complex partners to gain their trust and respect. Execute daily brief-related tasks and manage assigned projects and provide flavours that meet all defined customer needs and manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, production requirements, regulatory compliance, and leading customer visits for flavour creation and product presentations at the customer. Close collaboration with the commercial, marketing and application to drive innovation for the SG German market.
  • Be a technical expert to resolve flavour production issues, customer complaints and complete ownership of created flavours. Coach flavour assistants and flavourists.

Your professional profile includes:


  • Polytechnic or Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology and any experience in a food applications lab, production or related area
  • 7-10 years experience as a Flavourist after completion of Givaudan Flavourist Training programme or accepted industry equivalent
  • Flavour Creation experience in more than one country/region and across multiple flavour segments
  • Demonstrate expert-level tasting skills with the ability to understand how to adjust a flavour formulation in the direction needed for flavour modifications
  • Expert-level interaction with customers, discuss flavour creation needs and provide direction to help solve flavour performance issues in their applications
  • Fluency in English and any level of German is a plus
