Senior Sweet Flavourist

Sr Flavourist (Sweet) in Germany - your future position?

You will be part of a team of very experienced Flavourists and in a position to develop and share your knowledge and expertise together with your colleagues inside and outside your own team. We are looking for a dynamic professional who can be a good addition to our innovative and team-work culture.

In this exciting job you will:


  • Prepare flavour samples as requested for customer briefs, applications needs, technology performance assessment, QC standards and physical testing
  • Formulate new flavour creations or modify existing flavours to meet customer requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development at an expert level for selected flavour types
  • Coordinate the evaluation of materials developed internally or from external sources and assess potential for flavour creation
  • Serve as technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, and customers for ingredient and flavour performance at an expert level for selected flavour types
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with a broad number of complex customers; able to gain their trust and respect
  • Execute daily brief-related tasks and fully manage assigned projects and provide flavours which meet all defined customer needs and which meet good manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, production requirements, regulatory compliance, etc. as well as leading customer visits for flavor creation and product presentations at the customer when required
  • Serve as technical expert to resolve flavour production issues and customer complaints and complete ownership of created flavours
  • Coach, train, mentor and manage flavour assistants and flavourists
  • Consistently participate as a local champion for new technologies
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines, and participate in designing the rules which are required

Your professional profile includes 


  • 5-15 years experience as a Flavourist after completion of Givaudan Flavourist Training programme or accepted industry equivalent
  • Flavour Creation experience in the sweet goods and/or dairy segment
  • Demonstrates expert level tasting skills with an expert level ability to understand how to adjust a flavour formulation in the direction needed for flavour modifications
  • Expert level knowledge of raw materials and flavour ingredients with an expert level ability to formulate many flavour types to deliver flavour performance for customer briefs, problem solving processes, research and development needs, etc.
  • Good German language skills
  • Expert level ability to interface with customers and effectively discuss the flavour creation needs for multiple flavour types and provide direction to help solve flavour performance issues in their applications
  • Ability to prepare and present complex flavour creation related technical presentations with some basic elements of other functions such as applications, flavour creation, sensory, consumer understanding, analytical science, marketing, etc.
  • Expert level knowledge of formulating suitable delivery systems for various application bases
  • Expert level knowledge of analytical methodologies (G.C. HPLC, Mass Spec.)
  • Expert level of knowledge of the technology used for improved performance, specific technical aspects affecting flavour stability in base, etc. for a few flavour types
  • Ability to supervise and manage flavour assistants and flavourists
