Basic Function (Purpose of Position):
Under the direction of the Supervisor or Group Leader, the Flavor Operator I must follow standard operating procedures in order to ensure quality product while maximizing product yield and maintaining a safe working environment.
Essential Responsibilities and Specific Duties
- Operates equipment according to standard operating procedures. Manufactures products in a safe and timely manner. Loads and unloads stills and extractors. Weighs raw materials according to standard operating procedures predicated on batch size. Compounds finished products as specified on batch record or as instructed by supervisor. Weighs and packages finished product in neat and accurate manner. Grinds botanical raw material for extractors.
- Performs departmental cleaning of extractors, concentrators, stills, tanks, and other equipment as needed. Completes all sanitation and housekeeping duties as listed on the master sanitation schedule. Works in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and internal safety guidelines. Maneuvers and handles all containers with proper material-handling equipment. Maintains neat, orderly and clean shop floor and workplace at all times. Reports any issues or problems to management.
- Maintains accurate records of all work functions performed. Logs information as required.
- Performs in-process testing as needed to assure product quality.
Minimum Education/Experience/Skills/Job Knowledge/:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, with proficiency in basic mathematical skills (Metric vs. English system).
- 1 year minimum years in flavors-related manufacturing environment is preferred.
- A forklift license is preferred.
- Must be capable of performing routine work assignments, multi-tasking and following instructions with moderate supervision.
- Must be hard-working, self-motivated, committed to quality, and recognize the impact of day-to-day activities on the shop floor on customer satisfaction.
- Must produce volume within established standards and schedules.
- Open-mindedness, a positive attitude, clear communication skills (verbal and written), promptness, consistent attendance and willingness to work overtime are required.
