Job Purpose
As a member of the Microbiome Category team, part of the Explore Health & Nutrition division of the S&T Explore department of Givaudan, the microbiome scientist will be responsible for leading the Givaudan research platform for microbiome, with a particular focus on studying the modulation of the human microbiome. The research platform will rely on the creation of a robust ecosystem as well as the development of in house in vitro assays from which it will derive critical interpretation, leading to new ingredient design. You will report to the category technical leader in Mi-crobiome.

 

Core Responsibilities


Innovation management 
•    Create a network of universities, start-ups, companies working in the microbiome space and having a strong influence in the field
•    Critically analyze and interpret the efficacy of ingredients as microbiome modulator
•    Implement and manage in vitro studies in relationship with research program
•    Write scientific presentations to be shared within the S&T team, the sales and marketing team, to customers 
•    Keep an active role in scientific and regulatory literature search
•    Write scientific articles, manuscripts and white papers
•    Attend international scientific conferences

 

Project Management
•    Detailed project planning and control during execution. Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan.
•    Managing project deliverables and milestones in line with the project plan.
•    Resolving cross-functional issues at project level and escalating issues where necessary.
•    Working closely with all stakeholders and sub project teams to ensure alignment in the overall project plan.
•    Work closely with team to ensure the project meets the agreed business objectives
•    Responsible for coordination of a group of Scientific Employees for project complexion 
•    Provides input into and controls allocated budget

 

Partner Management
•    Work with consultants on strategic dossiers in a regulatory environment (nutraceutical or pharmaceutical international regulations, with strong emphasis on North American and Europe-an regulations)
•    Function as a liaison between the different services: QC, S&T, sales and marketing, industrial, purchasing and logistics for all the aspects related to microbiome research 

 

Be contact for technical aspects
•    Be the contact person for the whole organization for any technical aspects relating to microbi-ome
•    Be responsible for translation of microbiome science into communication material to be used internally and externally

 

Academic Background
•    Master or PhD in Microbiology, Human Physiology and/or Food Science

 

Professional experience
•    2+ years of experience in a similar role in the industry or in academia
•    Knowledge in microbiome (deep understanding of current knowledge and state of the art)
•    Experienced in in vitro experimentation linked to the microbiome 
•    Eagerness to take on a new challenge in a strategic category that is new to the company with a high projected growth
•    Willingness to start the position in Cincinnati for 18 months and move to New Jersey afterwards
