As our next Automation Engineer, reporting to our Site Engineering Manager, you will provide on-site support for all automation control activities and projects at the Devon facility. You will also provide project engineering and project management support for major automation capital projects.

 

This position is located in Florence, KY.

 

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide support for all programming language programs and write code and language for machines and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair software problems related to all automation and control manufacturing systems for all equipment in all departments at the respective site/facility, including the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) when applicable.
  • Propose, specify, develop and implement modifications to the systems to improve their efficiency and functionality.
  • Provide off-site support outside of working hours. Responsibility will alternate weekly between the Plant Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer, and Controls Technician
  • Provide guidance to the Controls Engineer and control Technician for their daily responsibilities
  • Provide Project Management for selected capital projects. Evaluate needs, assess options, define costs and justifications, prepare credit requests and develop project plans.
  • Implement projects to improve costs, efficiencies, yields and quality.
  • Manage contractor relationships, including establishing estimates, contract negotiation and on-site supervision during projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or a technical degree
  • 3+ years of experience in chemical or liquid manufacturing.
  • Knowledge in electrical power and industrial instrumentation/controls.
  • Technical background in PLC's and industrial process controls (DCS)
  • Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Devicenet, Controlnet, and Modbus networking.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and P&ID's.

 

Additional Experience

  • Experience in liquids, blending, spray drying, chemical manufacturing, paste, and cheese (reactors)
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC's, Allen-Bradley VFD's, and Rockwell Software
  • Experience managing capital projects
