As an intern in the Process Research group of the Fragrance Division, you will have a unique opportunity for 6 months to explore new sustainable production processes towards fragrant molecules using your skills and creativity in organic chemistry. The main focus will be to identify and study potential routes and technologies to efficiently produce new and existing fragrance ingredients. You will be part of a growth-minded team which is already curious to meet you.

 

You will collaborate with different S&T laboratories in Kemptthal (Zurich) and with Givaudan's perfume creation to study the applicability of your products. You will report directly to an experienced Chemist.

 

You will:

  • Optimize and elaborate new synthetic procedures for sustainable fragrance materials
  • Focus on sustainability and applying green chemistry principles
  • Learn to understand the needs of the industry, cost structure of materials and structure-activity correlation
  • Characterize the isolated and purified product(s) based on all spectroscopic data on your own or in collaboration with the responsible chemist
  • Plan and improve the experimental realization of designed syntheses of new fragrance ingredients on gram to multigram scale
  • Compile and document complete experimental data in a precise and succinct way
  • Communicate your results and offer conclusions/ways forward to your line management allowing the successful progress of projects.

You have:

  • Recently completed your master degree and have practical experiences in the area of synthetic organic chemistry
  • The interest to work toward chemical innovation at the bench
  • Good command of English is mandatory; fluency in German or French is a great addition
  • The passion to contribute to the success of the team in a constructive, creative and enthusiastic manner
  • The desire to work in a high functioning and communicative team
