Job Purpose:

Follow established procedures and guidelines to prepare flavour samples and take part in flavour evaluations and testing, in order support effective application process, according to business goals and EH&S policies.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Flavour Preparation & Evaluation

• Prepare flavour samples as requested for customer briefs, applications needs, technology performance assessment, QC standards, physical testing, etc.

• Act as the main point of contact to provide timely flavour samples for other labs and functions within Givaudan.

• Maintain all required formula records and brief documentation in company database software (Lab Notebook, OpenText Athena, Atlas, Lot Number records, etc.).

• Maintain organized and updated stock of raw materials in the lab.

• Maintain organized collection of flavours in the lab for immediate response to briefs and applications requests.

• Assist in applying flavours to food products when assigned.

• Participate in the evaluation of raw materials (including experimental ingredients), new technology, and flavours in food products and provide flavour performance feedback

• Ability to assist in documenting findings and creating reports.

 

Environmental Health & Safety

• Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment in accordance with EH&S guidelines and good laboratory practices

 

Academic Background:

* Secondary/High School diploma or

* Polytechnic or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology.

 

Professional Experience:

Secondary/High School diploma: Experience in a lab, production or related area

Experience in a lab or food application lab, production or related areas are a plus

Mathematical skills to include calculations of percentages, and ratios

 

Technical Skills:

* Expert understanding of research documentation protocol.

* Expert knowledge of lab equipment and handling chemicals used to perform lab functions.

* Complete knowledge of Givaudan safety, hygiene, and environmental guidelines/requirements.

* Expert ability to prepare flavour delivery systems and assist with product evaluations and sensory tests.

* Strong tasting skills and ability to effectively describe the profile of the flavour or ingredient.
