Regional Category Manager Packaging, your future position?

Reporting to the Head of Procurement with a dotted line to the Global Category Manager for Packaging, you'll develop regional strategies for the Americas to procure packaging materials and ensure a supply that aligns with the business plans of both Taste & Wellbeing and Fragrance & Beauty divisions. You will lead efforts to lead sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and minimizing the use of single-use plastic, while transitioning to a more sustainable packaging portfolio.

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

 

Sourcing Strategy

  • Drive the implementation of regional category strategies within the framework of the global procurement and category strategy
  • Provide strategic direction and ensures business alignment for the local procurement teams regarding category management, sourcing and contracting strategies, negotiation, and supplier management
  • Analyze market, to identify new sources, assess market trends and implement risk management strategies for the portfolio.
  • Drive regional sourcing strategy execution by leading major sourcing events and key negotiations and build the supply base with the best mix of vendors.
  • Manage supplier performance, identify and implement best practices, and establish a platform for knowledge sharing across the region.
  • Integrate our sustainability ambitions within the packaging strategy to improve carbon footprint, reducing single-use plastic, recyclability and re-usability.

Portfolio Management

  • Negotiate competitive pricing and favorable conditions for major regional and local contracts, establish contract best practices, and implement them at the regional and local levels across Mexico and the US.
  • Define supplier selection criteria, build scenarios and support the allocation decision making process.
  • Close partnership with Packaging Engineers, EHS, Quality, CI and Operations communities
  • Identify opportunities for portfolio optimization and actively involve and engage stakeholders in development of optimization plans
  • Assess internal and external process improvements and influences change and drive innovation and continuous improvements
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future (industry trends in pricing and availability that will impact the business)
  • Provide category input for the budget process and subsequent budget reviews (Price forecast, market trends)
  • Identify potential demand and specification changes and communicate them to suppliers
  • Manage regional key supplier relationship, and lead escalations resolution.
  • Define supplier performance process
  • Communicate with key internal stakeholders/Global Category Managers any market conditions changes and trends which may affect the Business
  • Develop business cases to influence partners to drive cost and/or productivity improvements
  • Set up supplier innovation program
  • Drive the creation and management of a healthy project pipeline.

 

Stakeholder Relationship

  • Lead packaging governance meetings and develop new communication channels to driver project execution and cost, project awareness
  • Communicate with main internal stakeholders/Global Category Managers any market conditions changes which may affect the Business
  • Be an active contributor to our sustainability and responsible sourcing programs in the area of packaging. Support the responsible sourcing projects implementation & provide information to Sustainability Team and IM&S sustainability ambassador.

 

Cost Optimization and Business Planning

  • Prepare initiative plans and forecasts following business budget cycle
  • Develop cost reduction projects
  • Provide price forecast and market trends for key commodities and services.

 

The position is based in San Angel, Mexico City with an hybrid working model (4 day at the office, 1 day at home).

 

Your professional profile includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering or Economics is required. Master degree in supply chain, industrial management or related is desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Procurement, supply chain, or operations.
  • Previous experience in Packaging Sourcing or related areas will be valued.
  • International exposure in previous roles.
  • Fluent in English & Spanish
  • Project Management skills using PM methodology.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft office, Power BI and SAP
