Associate Sensory Analyst - Your future position?
As the Associate Sensory Analyst, you will leverage your expertise in Fragrance Technology with a fair level of autonomy within an assigned scope, to support the delivery of competitive advantage by addressing business needs through effective fragrance technology and innovation activities, in alignment with global and regional strategy.
In this exciting role, you will:
- EHS / Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment in accordance with EHS guidelines. Adheres to high ethical values and beliefs.
- Functional Leadership & Cross-functional Interface: Serve as a technical contact point for defined projects, collaborating across functions and with customers to ensure continuity of support.
- Resource & Capability Planning: Flag potential resource or capability gaps in own area of work.
- Financial / Expense Management: Monitor costs related to own tasks and flag variances; ensure efficient use of materials and tools. Possess a foundational understanding of commercial and financial terminologies relevant to project costing, profitability, and value delivery.
- Technical / Analytical / Sensory Support: Provide advanced technical support to Development / Commercial / S&T teams within assigned projects; ensure accurate execution and communicate results effectively. Solve routine technical problems, using defined methods and protocols.
- Project Management & External Collaboration: Under supervision plan, organize, and execute projects; maintain accurate records. Effectively observe and document experimental results to discuss with supervisor. Efficiently manage and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders - Development, Commercial, and technical teams, ensuring smooth project alignment and timely execution.
- Internal Technology Deployment: Apply technical expertise to design and execute innovative demo concepts, develop detailed protocols, and support technology presentations for internal teams and clients, including delivering training sessions and creating customized promotional materials.
- Conduct basic market profiling and benchmarking of consumer products based on ingredient combinations, product claims, benefits, and regional preferences, particularly within the South Asia market.
- Innovation & IP: Contribute to innovation by identifying technical improvements in own area; provide inputs to IP considerations and documentation.
- Scientific Expertise: Apply scientific expertise in own area to support projects. Maintain scientific/technical skills in the field.
- Olfactory Expertise: Apply smelling abilities to assess fragrance performance and contribute to technical olfactory assessments.
- Talent Management & Development: May manage supervise / mentor Interns or Technicians; share expertise and provide on‑the‑job guidance to Technicians to build functional competencies. Actively participate in the hiring process within the own team if required. Execute the Engage process of junior team members (incl. target setting, reviews, performance evaluations, and talent evaluations). Propose training and development plans for key technical competencies within relevant areas.
- Culture, Communication & Collaboration: Share relevant information proactively with colleagues; encourage teamwork in day‑to‑day work.
- Demonstrate basic statistical skills for interpretation of lab results, performance data, and experimental outcomes.
- Manage and plan project logistics including resource allocation, client session readiness, and travel planning. Be comfortable with frequent travel within South Asia for client visits, trials, and project follow-ups.

Your professional profile includes:
- Academic Background & Professional Experience
- University degree in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Experience of fragrance / FMCG industries, +3 years.
- Project management experience
Skills & Competencies:
- Good knowledge of fragrance and/or FMCG science and technologies
- IP Awareness
- Scientific / analytical skills / knowledge in area of specialty
- Ability to interpret experimental results, suggest next round of experiments and develop new methods.
- Maintain a foundational understanding of consumer product formulations (e.g., fabric care, personal care, home care) and related processing methodologies.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding and working knowledge of fragrance technologies, including application techniques, performance evaluation, and innovation implementation.
- Particularly good knowledge of lab equipment, materials and supplies needed to conduct scientific experiments.
- Particularly good understanding of a scientific documentation protocol
- Good knowledge of EHS guidelines as they pertain to lab maintenance and operation.
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in English and at least one local language (e.g., Hindi)
- Effective team player; works collaboratively across functions.
- Ability to develop innovative solutions; ability to problem-solve.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Utilize software tools and applications effectively for daily operations; proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel/Sheets) for reporting, data analysis, and presentations.
