Senior Application Technologist

 

Purpose

Participate in flavour application and provide technical expertise to drive operational excellence and improve client delivery systems, according to business goals and EH&S policies.

 

 

Core Responsibilities

Flavour Application

  •  Execute daily brief-related tasks including flavour selection, product evaluation, and application development
  •  Lead evaluations of flavours in food applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations
  •  Select optimal flavours for projects according to specified requirements (i.e. customer, regulatory, legislation, cost) and sug-gest improvements for the most common applications
  •  Identify appropriate flavour delivery systems and technologies for customer projects in specific applications

 

Knowledge sharing & expertise

  •  Serve as technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, flavour creation, and customers for specific applications
  •  Coach, train, and motivate technicians and technologists

 

 Data maintenance

  •  Actively maintain the flavour performance data for the flavour portfolio through evaluation in finished product and capture of profiles

 

Environmental Health & Safety

  •  Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for fol-lowing these guidelines

 

Academic Background

  •  Polytechnic or B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or
  •  Master’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or
  •  Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology

 

Professional Experience

  •  Polytechnic or B.S.: minimum 4 -6 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area (preferred)
  •  Master’s Degree: minimum 2 -3 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area (preferred)
  •  Ph.D.: minimum 0-1 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area (preferred)

 

 Technical Skills

  •  Understanding of selected food applications, ingredients, and processes with practical experience in customers’ food manu-facturing environment
  •  Basic understanding of many of the flavour reactions/interactions in common food products
  •  Project management skills and the ability to successfully lead selected customer projects
  •  Ability to effectively participate on customer projects including customer visits
  •      Basic technical problem solving skills in a specific applications area
  •  Ability to translate market trends into innovative products for selected customers
  •  Ability to instruct technicians and technologists
