Marketing Director, Greater China & Korea (Taste & Wellbeing)


The Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan) & Korea Sub Region is an important driver of growth for Givaudan in the APAC Region. An opportunity has opened for a Marketing Director to lead our marketing innovation efforts in the Greater China & Korea Sub Region.  The successful candidate will be based in Shanghai with a willingness and ability to travel throughout the Sub Region including significant time with customers.

The Marketing Director role will report into Commercial Head , Taste & Wellbeing – Greater China & Korea and is responsible for defining, leading and driving the Sub-Region Marketing Strategy and Marketing initiatives to grow and differentiate Givaudan with customers through engagement with Sales, Technical & Business Development at the country level & with Innovation Teams at the Regional & Global level


Key Deliverables

Identifies and translates customer and market needs into strategic marketing initiatives to drive sustainable and profitable growth; partners with Innovation & Technical teams to deliver relevant products, marketing materials and innovation; and leads sales to commercialize with customers.




  • Lead development of the regional growth strategy: Drive the development of Market Strategy for Sub Region. Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to support the delivery of strategic objectives. Develop digital strategy that supports rapid business growth and drive execution of digital activities.
  • Direct and Execute marketing efforts to target customers : Ensure that strategy is “translated” into marketable actions and that targets set are achieved. Lead commercialization of global-regional strategic big-investment products and technologies in the sub region.
  • Lead commercialization of strategic big-investment products and technologies : Partner with sales to analyze business performance, identify issues and define specific needs. Define the innovation agenda & fill identified gaps in technology. Able to articulate needs of the sub region & work with Regional & Global Teams to ensure that these are met. Work with Business Development to formulate strategy for new categories & Integrated Solutions.
  • Help deliver assigned financial targets (sales, gross margin)
  • Leadership: People focused leader effective at driving organizational change and performance. Lead, develop & manage the marketing team. Function as an effective member of the Commercial Leadership team for the Sub Region                  

Success Profile:

  • Bachelor / Master Degree in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or related areas.
  • At least 15 years of marketing experience, including marketing strategy with 5 years of experience in leading a team
  • Sales or B2B Marketing with a strong know how of B2C Marketing in an international environment.
  • Solid understanding of marketing strategy (including Digital marketing) and principles including brand execution, commercialization of new products, and creative promotions.
  • Experience with working with people from technical, commercial and innovation related backgrounds.
  • The ability to manage through complexity.
  • Ability to plan actively, ensuring sales buy in and securing the required technical support.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication ability and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
