Research Scientist

Research Scientist  -  Your Future Position?


As a Research Scientist in our Fragrance Division, you will lead finding of new captive odorants for the perfume industry; you will work on application of green chemistry in design and synthesis of new fragrance ingredients; and application of biocatalysis in odorant design and synthesis with compliance of EHS rules. You will also need to scout for biotech opportunities to leverage local Industry & Academia partners. Sound interesting? It could well be your perfect opportunity. In this exciting role you will:

  • Design, synthesize, purify and analyze new perfume ingredients on gram and multi-gram scale
  • Accelerate principles of both green chemistry and biocatalysis in odorant design
  • Development and application of enzyme/bio-catalyst in organic synthesis at the bench
  • Analyse local biotech opportunities in Chinese industry and academia, in collaboration with Givaudan process research department
  • Document results, experimental data, observations in internal information systems in English
  • Support EHS with appropriate Biosafety standards

Your professional profile includes:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
  • 1-5 years of experience in academic or industrial bio-catalysis
  • Proven track record in preparative organic synthesis
  • Experience in developing research proposals independently for internal discussion and  publication
  • Preparative bench work: organic synthesis, enzyme catalysis, green chemistry principles, purification
  • Use of common ananlytical instruments:GC, GC-MS, LC, NMR
  • MS Office, CS ChemOffice (ChemDraw, ChemFinder)
  • Good command in English
  • Excellent communication skills
