Indirect Material & Services Senior Buyer – Your Future Position?

Location: 1 Woodlands Avenue 8

Reporting to: IM&S Procurement Manager

As a Senior Site Buyer, you will develop and implement business procurement strategies and plans following our goals for the country/site to improve costs, both P&L and balance sheet (working capital, creditors terms and stock arrangements) and to identify and reduce risk. Manage the procurement of Indirect Materials & Services (IM&S) in Singapore, this includes sourcing, contract negotiation, pricing agreement, project management and collaboration with other teams to meet their procurement needs.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement global, regional and local agreements and support the financial targets as outlined by IM&S Procurement.
  • To perform local negotiations with suppliers and ensure adequate contract cover within the portfolio within the value of spend specified by the IM&S Procurement Manager and the Global Delegation of Authorities/Signatories policy.
  • To stay updated on industry trends and market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Manage supplier performance and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and uninterrupted supply.
  • Drive procurement process by developing intimate knowledge of selected commodity markets through conducting market research, personal contacts with suppliers, brokers and any other sources of market information.
  • Analyse trends and market movements for use in making sound procurement decisions.
  • To identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Furnish market conditions, pricing, shortages or technical information to Procurement Managers and makes recommendations.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve procurement process.
  • Co-ordinate, oversee and review the procurement process, software and system.
  • Integrate the IM&S processes so as to conform to the guidelines developed within the SAP and SRM system.
  • Maintain existing SRM catalogues and lead the implementation of new SRM catalogues
  • Advise and assist other departments in the evaluation and pricing of alternative materials. Advise on trade practices, pricing, market conditions, delivery terms, and use of technical services of vendors.
  • Improve vendor selection and consolidation
  • Solicit and analyse quotes, negotiate prices and delivery terms and investigate invoice discrepancies.
  • Initiate the search for alternative materials or products. Investigate and approve the facilities, quality and financial responsibility of potential suppliers.
  • Experience in Project Management will be an added advantage

 

Your professional profile includes:

  • 5-7 years experience as Buyer/Senior Buyer or similar role in Procurement managing indirect categories
  • Knowledge in managing packaging or CAPEX categories would be added advantage
  • Experience in contract management and project management is highly preferred
  • Proficient in procurement software (e.g. SAP, SRM)
  • Business bachelor or any relevant degree
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Team worker with good customer focus
