Nutraceutical Ingredient Technical Specialist
The Nutraceutical Ingredient Technical Specialist is part of the Givaudan Ingredients (Legacy Naturex) Commercial Team. The role is part of a fast-paced, interdisciplinary ecosystem and involves interfacing directly with Customers, Sales, Innovation, Flavor and Applications teams to drive successful commercial outcomes into the nutraceuticals market, encompassing functional and nutritional ingredients. The role is not lab based, but requires a close interface with the Food Applications team to create applications using our ingredients.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as main contact for technical ingredient support for the commercial Nutraceuticals business
- Work with Sales and Customer to understand Customer needs and present Givaudan Ingredient expertise and capabilities
- Serve as the technical expert on Givaudan Ingredients to Customer, Sales and Applications teams to advance growth plans in the nutraceuticals segment
- Leverage technical knowledge and innovative approaches to address Customer needs using Ingredient portfolio to win business in the nutraceuticals market
- Participate in daily project meetings and perform project-related tasks as needed/assigned
- Provide technical and scientific materials and documentation to support project discussions with the Customer
- Maintain accurate records documentation of project work and corporate knowledge
- Interface with Regional and Global Product and Marketing teams to learn about new product offerings and champion these to Sales and Customers
- Serve as a conduit from Customers to Regional and Global Product teams; enunciating the needs of the market to inform future product development
- Qualifications of the Successful Candidate:
- Hands on experience formulating dietary supplement applications (tablets, capsules, gummies, beverages) is a must
- Experience with functional ingredients, including but not limited to: botanicals, nature-derived colors, natural preservatives and flavors is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, interfacing with cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes
- Comfortable with interfacing directly with Customer and Sales team, while thinking on feet to capture and respond to business opportunities
- Ability to synthesize complex information info key messages delivered in terms appropriate for the audiences of varying technical abilities
- Dynamic, driven, innovative, out of the box thinker with a can-do mindset
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Academic Background
- Polytechnic or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related area or
- M.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, or related area or
- Ph.D. in Food Science, Chemistry, or related area
Professional Experience
- Polytechnic or Bachelor’s Degree: 4-6+ years of experience in a food applications lab, or related area preferred. Ingredients commercial experience is a plus
- Master’s Degree: 2-4+ years of experience in a food applications lab, or related area preferred. Ingredients commercial experience is a plus
- Ph.D.: 1-2+ years of experience in a food applications lab, or related area preferred. Ingredients commercial experience is a plus
