Production Supervisor - Your future position?

Location: 12 Britton St, Smithfield NSW 2164

Reporting to: Production Manager

Purpose

Production supervisors help ensure efficient operations within the food and chemicals production facility. Their primary responsibility is to oversee the production process and ensure that it meets the quality, safety, and efficiency standards set by the company.

 

Main Responsibilities

Plan and organise:

  • Collaborate with production planners to create production schedules based on available resources, equipment capacity.
  • Monitor production progress against the schedule to identify bottlenecks.
  • Come up with solutions to address issues or delays that may affect production schedule.
  • Prioritise tasks and allocate resources based on the schedule requirements.

Quality:

  • Implement quality control measures, follow food safety regulations, monitor product specifications, conduct quality checks
  • Coordinate root cause analysis of any non-conformance, and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence with proper documentation
  • Participate in GMP inspections and closing of actions

Safety:

  • Promote a safety culture and awareness within the organisation
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and assess risks associated with equipment, processes, behaviours or the working environment. Take appropriate measures to eliminate or control hazards and mitigate risks
  • Investigate any accidents, injury, or near-miss incidents, and document all needed information to come up with corrective actions

Inventory management:

  • Coordinate cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials and finished products
  • Investigate any abnormalities in usage or yield and implementing control measures to avoid recurrence

People Management

  • Lead to the team members by setting clear expectations, communicate goals, and provide guidance on how to achieve them. Motivate and inspire operators by promoting a sense of purpose and commitment to their work
  • Plan for staffing arrangements and conduct performance reviews
  • Handle conflicts or issues that may arise within the team, and work towards finding solutions that are fair and beneficial to all parties

Process Improvement:

  • Train operators for all production related activities to ensure consistency in the output, and ensure that the team's competency is assessed accordingly
  • Help identify areas for process improvement within the production line, and propose solutions for production optimization

Communication and coordination:

  • Act as a liaison between different departments within the organisation, such as planning, quality, safety, HR, maintenance, and logistics – to resolve any issues around production

 

Main Requirements

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years experience in people management at a production line
  • Able to commit to a shift based arrangement (2pm~10pm)
