Research Scientist

Research Scientist – Your future position?
As a Research Scientist you will undertake flavor science tasks for the commercial business in Australia and New Zealand. You will also m
aintain all analytical equipment and support customer projects with a combination of GCMS/GCO and a range of exciting proprietary Givaudan technologies and equipment.


You will report to the Senior Flavourist/ Creation Manager of Oceania, Taste & Wellbeing. In this exciting role you will:

  • Engage with the flavor science regional and global teams to ensure the Oceania business is linked to and updated with the latest Givaudan flavor science information, knowledge and analytical techniques.
  • Run analytical testing (predominantly GCMS and GCO) and interpretation of customer samples, internal flavors and market products to support reactive and proactive projects including flavor matching
  • Support customer concerns or issues with analytical testing as needed by the commercial Flavourist.
  • Maintain all analytical equipment and support customer projects with a combination of GCMS/GCO and a range of exciting proprietary Givaudan technologies and equipment
  • Manage the Creations Assistant (1 direct report) who will undertake creation support, compounding, sample evaluation set up and some technical Flavourist tasks.
  • Manage the students who will work within the creations laboratory
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment following EH&S policies and good laboratory practices
  • Maintain all required formula records and brief documentation in company database software
  • Maintain updated stock of raw materials in the laboratory
  • Engage with the proper stakeholders to ensure that organizational performance is achieved

Your professional profile includes:

  • Bachelor Degree in analytical chemistry or equivalent              
  • At least 5 years in analytical GCMS working experience within a creation lab or related lab environment
  • Ability to interpret analytical results for commercially valuable output                   
  • Expert knowledge of lab equipment and handling chemicals used to perform lab functions, 5S           
  • Previous project management experience
  • Prior leadership experience is ideal
  • Able to demonstrate tasting skills and is able to effectively describe the flavor profile of the seasoning or ingredient is ideal
