Pricing Manager, Japan – Your future position?
As the Japan Pricing Manager with Givaudan, you will implement and manage pricing strategy for Taste & Wellbeing division in Japan to ensure global pricing consistency and drive profitable growth according to the company's business objectives. In this exciting role, you also will:
Manage constructive and proactive partnership with all key stakeholders in the pricing process
- Business partner with the Sub-Regional Commercial Head and the team from Sales,
Flavour Creation and Application (FC&A), Procurement, Operations, Marketing to drive profitable growth - Provide pricing expertise / advice to Sales and other functions
- Support the Sub-Regional Commercial Head and APAC Pricing Head on pricing and commercial requests
- Establish and review Pricing and Commercial KPIs and provide relevant reports in a timely manner
Accountable for timely and robust price setting and maintenance
- Lead pricing activities such as providing price recommendations to Sales / distributors and target costs to FC&A in a timely / robust manner, maintaining price lists and addressing price discrepancies / issues
- Manage Delegation of Authority (DoA) process including discount and rebate requests supported by high quality, holistic business case and recommendations in line with APAC Regional Pricing Policy
- Support or lead price negotiations with customers, with supporting documents and during meetings
Executional excellence in monitoring, protecting and improving gross margin
- Lead regular review of pricing and profitability for margin protection and improvement
- Implement pricing actions and other margin recovery plans with support from Sales, FC&A and others
- Promote, leverage pricing tools and best practices to defend and grow our business profitably
Guarantee compliance with pricing policies and guidelines
- Ensure compliance with APAC Regional Pricing Policy and guidelines
- Accountable for data maintenance and quality in all pricing processes and systems
- Roll out regional / global projects and initiatives including process improvements
- Participate / contribute to APAC Pricing Team meetings and discussions with colleagues outside APAC
- Coordinate prices for regional / global accounts as assigned by the APAC Pricing Head

Your professional profile includes:
Academic Background / Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Business or other relevant areas
- Certified Pricing Professional or equivalent (a plus)
Professional Experience
- 7-12 years of combined experience in pricing, finance or similar
- Former pricing or deal management or procurement experience (must-have)
- Successful track record of driving profitable growth and making a positive impact on the business
- Working experience in cross-cultural / international environment
- Experience in food and beverage / flavour and fragrance industries and/or sales and marketing (a plus)
Technical Skills / Competencies
- Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong business partnering, influencing and communication skills
- Proficient in communicating in English and Japanese
- Results driven even under difficult circumstances
- Effectively manage, influence and work with stakeholders / teams across functions / geographies
- Subject matter expert on pricing processes, tools and best practices
- Strong financial / business acumen and analytical skills
- High attention to detail while keeping overview of larger picture
- People management and development
- In depth market knowledge (customers, segments, market practices - on the job learning)
- Basic process and project management skills
- Proven ability to deal with complex IT systems
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Office, SAP
