We are seeking a Tax Accountant to join our team in our company. As a Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing tax planning, preparation, and compliance to local tax rules, and Group Reporting requirements. You will report to the Finance Manager.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting.
Holding a relevant certification, such as a Certified Tax Accountant (CTA) or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Japan, is a plus, as well as exposure to IFRS.

Main Tasks / Deliverables:
Tax Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and review tax returns for the company in compliance with Japanese tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Manage monthly payments (withholding, consumption tax, etc.)
- Monthly Tax reporting, monitoring & reconciliation
- Deferred Tax Accounting
- Coordinate with Tax Advisors for the Tax Filing preparation, data preparation & tas allocation (to Junior Accountant)
- Monitor Japanese tax deadlines, filing requirements, and payment obligations to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
Transfer Pricing Support: you will support the Finance Manager on transfer-pricing related matters, including:
- Yearly transfer price mass-update support
- Margin monitoring and profitability reporting support
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the accounting and finance team to provide comprehensive financial services in alignment with Japanese tax regulations.
Ad-hoc
- Coordinate tax audits
- Stay updated on changes in Japanese tax legislation, regulations, and practices
- Coordinate with consultants on ad-hoc tax advisory matters
- Ad-hoc project support (e.g. Tax Reforms, APA or benchmarking study data preparation, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
- Basic understanding of Japanese tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in using Excel, accounting software (SAP is a plus) and tools for Japanese tax preparation and compliance.
- Certification such as Certified Tax Accountant (CTA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Japan is preferred.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
