Analytical Scientist (w/m/d) - Chromatography / Mass spectrometry - Your next role?
 

As an Analytical Scientist (w/m/d) you will directly report to our Sr Manager Product Safety Sciences Lab and you will join our Product Safety Science Labs CoE in Vernier. You will be responsible for the supervision of lab operations and performing analyses to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

In this exciting role you will :

 

  • Providing the supervision of lab operations in the analytical Lab entity in agreement with management. You will be the first contact for the Lab staff for planning, dealing with their technical questions, troubleshooting, data review and method development. You will be a key contact point to sustain the operational excellence of the PSS Labs in the quantification of regulated substances in fragrance raw materials, which includes such items as natural or synthetic ingredients and delivery systems by undertaking and supervising analytical tests to ensure compliance with global regulations, together with  providing support for new product development across the range of raw materials used in the business.
  • Acting as an Analytical Expert in Chromatography and Mass spectrometry. You will provide scientific guidance and support for performing the most appropriate analytical tests & studies using your proven knowledge and know-how in these areas on our fragrance materials. The creation of study reports will be required for the most complex studies. Using your proven technical capabilities in GC, LC and MS, you will contribute in the development and evaluation of any necessary adaptions of existing methods, together with the development of new analytical state-of-the-art methods, data processing, or equipment for current and future challenging regulations. Hands-on laboratory work for development and execution of some analyses is clearly expected in this role. 
  • Being a Partner in solution with stakeholders. You will be acting as the initial lab contact for specific operational processes and projects and you will be involved in a range of cross-functional projects in order to provide added-value via your Analytical expertise. Your understanding of the business context and impact will be key in driving our analytical support and ensuring short-medium-long term deliverables are aligned with global strategy

Your success profile includes :

  • Master's Degree or Phd in scientific field, preferably Analytical Chemistry ; 
  • 3-5 years of track record and relevant experience in analytical chemistry in a similar role ; 
  • Strong background in analytical chemistry, specifically in Gas / Liquid Chromatography combined with with Mass Spectrometry techniques ; 
  • Experience in Quantitative Target Analysis and Identification of Unknowns by MS is a must ; 
  • Significant experience with high-end analytical instruments, such as LC-MSMS, LC-HRMS and GCxGC-MS would be highly appreciated ; 
  • Significant experience with various sample preparation techniques such as Headspace, SPME, SPE, HiSorb and Thermal Desorption would be highly advantageous ; 
  • Experience with SAP, LIMS and in chromatographic data software such as Masshunter, ChromaTOF, GC-Image, ChromSpace, TraceFinder, Compound Discoverer would be highly appreciated ; 
  • Knowledge in Method Validation would be highly appreciated ; 
  • Experience in the analysis of fragrance & cosmetic raw materials would be highly appreciated ; 
  • Experience in the scientific guidance of Laboratory operations and method / process development would be highly appreciated ; 
  • Sense of ownership, take initiative with autonomy and rigour ; 
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills 
  • Very good team mindset 
  • Fluent in French and English.
