Procurement Biotech Manager - Your future role?

As the Procurement Biotech Manager, you will drive strategic sourcing excellence within Givaudan's biotechnology ecosystem. You will ensure competitive, innovative, and sustainable supplier partnerships that enable the research, development and scale-up of biotech-derived ingredients. You will connect Sciences & Technology, Operations, and external collaborators, enhance sourcing strategies and accelerate our innovation pipeline through strategic procurement excellence.

You will report directly to the Global Lead Biotech Procurement, and will be based in Vernier, Switzerland.

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

 

Portfolio Management:

  • Partner with our S&T and/or industrialization teams on accessing external services (such as process optimization, process development and scale-up activities) on fermentation and/or downstream processes needed to deliver on our biotech innovation pipeline for assigned set of projects aiming to deliver Flavor and/or Fragrance and/or Active cosmetic ingredients

  • Define and implement biotechnology sourcing strategies aligned with business growth and innovation goals

  • Identify, assess, and engage strategic vendors to secure reliable, cost- effective, and forward-looking partnerships

  • Manage full sourcing lifecycle including RFP/RFQ, negotiation, contracting, and governance, ensuring compliance and performance delivery

  • Monitor vendor performance, risk, and contractual deliverables across biotechnology development and scale-up activities

  • Leverage market intelligence and vendor innovation to inform make-or-buy decisions and advance technology roadmaps

  • Champion continuous improvement, sustainability, and vendor bio innovation initiatives driving process efficiency and speed to market

Stakeholder relationship:

  • Collaborate closely with Science & Technology, Operations, Legal, Finance, Procurement Category Managers to align procurement actions with technical and strategic priorities

 

Your professional profile includes:

 

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences

  • Additional education or certification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Project Management, Business Administration is beneficial

  • 5-7 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement within biotechnology, chemicals, or life sciences industries

  • Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial

  • Experience in managing complex technology and service partnerships

  • Knowledge of F&F/FMCG/Biotech industry

  • Excellent collaboration and communication capabilities with cross-functional teams across R&D, Operations, Finance, and Legal/IP

  • Ability to align sourcing strategies with corporate innovation and sustainability objectives

  • Ability to travel (around 25%)
